If the 14 yr old boy is losing weight from an eating disorder this could lead to hair loss. If the weight is falling off without a change in diet he may have an overactive thyroid. If he is on any type of medication this could cause weight change and hair loss. The link below has information on the types and causes of teenage hair loss. I lost about a stone in weight due to stress just last year. I didn't have the hair loss though. Good idea to have yourself checked by your GP. Don't worry - it probably isn't anything serious. Just another thought - does your dad or any close relatives, male or female, suffer from hereditary hair loss? I think you'd be too young for anything like that affecting you but I'm not an expert and hope that's not the case. I came across a product that actually helps re-grow your own hair, when I was looking into stuff for a friend.
